Arnab Goswami was born on 7 March 1973 in Guwahati, Assam, India. He belongs to an Assamese family with a political background. His father, Manoranjan Goswami, was an army officer and a BJP leader. Her mother, Suprabha Gain-Goswami, is an author. His paternal grandfather, Rajani Kanta Goswami, was a lawyer. Her maternal grandfather, Gaurisankar Bhattacharyya, was a communist leader and legislator. His maternal uncle, Siddhartha Bhattacharya, is a BJP MLA from the Gauhati East constituency.

Goswami attended schools across various parts of India due to his father’s postings. He completed his 10th grade from Mount St Mary’s School in New Delhi and his 12th grade from Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jabalpur Cantonment.
