Arnab Goswami was born on 7 March 1973 in Guwahati, Assam, India. He belongs to an Assamese family with a political background. His father, Manoranjan Goswami, was an army officer and a BJP leader. Her mother, Suprabha Gain-Goswami, is an author. His paternal grandfather, Rajani Kanta Goswami, was a lawyer. Her maternal grandfather, Gaurisankar Bhattacharyya, was a communist leader and legislator. His maternal uncle, Siddhartha Bhattacharya, is a BJP MLA from the Gauhati East constituency.

Goswami attended schools across various parts of India due to his father’s postings.
